Wedding Cake Advice
The following information is provided to make choosing your wedding cake from The Big Wedding Cake Company, even easier!
Our opening times for enquiries are 10am - 4pm Tues - Sat
Your Wedding Cake Design
Firstly take a look at our wedding cake portfolio - what cake designs do you like? Traditional cakes, simple and elegant cakes, cakes with diamantes and sparkle, contemporary cupcakes or unusual and novelty wedding cakes?
Our wedding cake designers will work with you to create your perfect cake. We can use all aspects of your wedding day as inspiration for your cake design. Maybe you have a strong colour theme that you would like us to work with, or a design on your bridal gown, or even use your invitations as a starting point. All our cake designs are bespoke and we enjoy a good challenge, so the more information you can provide us about your wedding day will help us to design the perfect wedding cake for you.
Booking Your Cake
Some people choose to book everything over the internet. This is not a problem for us. We try to provide as much information regarding pricing, portion quantities, wedding cake designs and e-mail contact information as possible on this website. We also update our facebook page with new cake designs regularly.
We enjoy meeting our brides and grooms in person, so if you prefer to come and visit our shop to discuss your requirements, you are more than welcome. We are open Tues - Saturday 10am - 4pm (appointments outside opening hours can be arranged with prior booking).
On visiting our shop, we will provide you with cake tasting samples and discuss with you all your wedding cake requirements, from design ideas through to size.
We can provide you with a choice of cake flavours - vanilla sponge, lemon sponge, death by chocolate, carrot and fruit cake.
Paying For Your Cake
A £100 non-refundable deposit secures your wedding cake booking with us. Do not worry if you are unsure about the exact design of your cake. We understand that many suppliers for your wedding day are booked months or even years in advance and in this time your ideas and inspirations can change. At The Big Wedding Cake Company, we take final payment for your cake 8 weeks prior to your wedding day, this is also the time when you can finalise all your design details with us.
Payments can be made in cash, by card or cheque. We can take payments over the phone or through e-mail via paypal.
Collecting Your Cake
Your wedding cake will be boxed ready for your collection at your chosen time. We ensure that we securely package our cakes so they can be easily and safely transported by you.
We can offer a delivery and set-up service to your wedding venue, please contact us for prices.
What size do I need my wedding cake?
Please refer to our portion quantities guide to estimate the size of the wedding cake you will require.
How much will it cost?
Prices are dependent upon decoration and cake size. Below each enlarged wedding cake image is the cake sizes and cost of the cake in sponge. Fruit cake costs a little more. Please contact us for an accurate quote.
Can I have different flavours of cake?
Each tier to your wedding cake can be a different flavour, choose from vanilla sponge, lemon sponge, death by chocolate, carrot cake and fruit cake. Cupcakes are available in sponge or death by chocolate.
Does my bottom tier have to be fruit to support the weight?
NO!! All stacked cakes are dowelled on the inside to support the weight of the cake above. There is no need for you to have any tiers of fruit cake if you would prefer sponge. It is also possible for you to have just your top tier as fruit cake if you wish.
Do I have to buy a cake stand / seperator?
No, if the cake design you have chosen requires a stand/ seperator or fish bowl, we will provide these items. You will be advised when booking about the returnable deposit required for the item which you will be given back when the item is returned to us in the condition it was lent.
How long will my cake last after my wedding?
We suggest that any fruit cake can be stored for up to 12 months after your wedding and sponges should be consumed within 2 weeks.
